COME HAVE THE TIME OF YOUR LIFE
What a 10th Annual Derby we had in May 2012. There were 434 contestants and 165 boats on the water it was a really great Derby and we would like to thank every one of the fishermen and fisher women that took the time to come and enjoy the weekend.
Fishing was tough and they had to work for everyone. The weather was good, but not as warm as we would of like, but it was not raining or snowing at least. The winner was caught about 8:30 pm and stayed in the first place position for the remainder of the Derby.
Everyone had a great time and got to see many friends from former Derbies here and on other lakes they all fish on. The ants were not fully in hatch like we like to see but there were some on the water, cool nights and crisp mornings had a lot to do with that. Everyone remembered the water conditions of last year and that was the main conversation. This year the water was 58 feet from full pool and rising fast. We had to split the marina do to the lower than we like water but it worked out fine.
Awards, prizes and money to the winners started and 3p.m. and ended just after 4p.m. We had 17 kids under the age of 15 and they all received gifts from us for coming and being a part of the Derby.
Ron and Sandy Moran and their grandson Lathe received the Mentorship award this year, this award is a $100's in cash, in memory of George Earle Sr. This award was started by his sons George and Steve. This is one of the best parts of this derby for us.
Congratulations to you all and we had a great time putting it on.
